About Lachlan Pirie
Heritage
Lachlan is of Torres Strait Islander and Scottish/French heritage. His grandmother was born on Thursday Island and his great grandmother is from Mabuiag Island. His undergraduate journal article focuses on improving the security of native title rights and interests through improving spatial science techniques.
Screenwriting
While writing as an author, Lachlan also pursues screenwriting. His adaption of Luc Longley’s ‘Running with the Bulls’ entered the quarterfinals of the PAGE screenwriting contest. Initially a screenplay, Lachlan decided to turn The Resolution into a stage play to help garner interest in his work. After this production was cancelled in 2020 due to the event of COVID-19, Lachlan turned his attention towards adapting The Resolution into a novel.

Spatial Science
Lachlan has also been proficient in mathematics from a young age. He wanted to maintain a healthy balance between writing, mathematics and the outdoors, so he decided to pursue a career in spatial science while also writing on the side. He holds a Bachelor of Spatial Science (Honours) (Major Surveying) from the University of Southern Queensland and is studying a Masters of GIS & Remote Sensing at Charles Stuart University.
